Our new Staffordshire Savvy 7, are seven themed free short courses for adult residents aged 19+, and will be running in Libraries across Staffordshire throughout 2024, and includes:
1: Savvy Shopper and Confident Consumers – Starts June 2024
supporting you to get savvy with your weekly shop and cut costs in your home. Learn how to compare deals and suss out shopping comparisons and retail rip-offs! Full details of this course and how to join it for free, and claim your £20 voucher here.
2: Savvy Schooling – Starts September 2024
is the first step in getting support and skills to help you work with your children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews on homework or their school assignments.
3: Savvy Chef – Starts November 2024
will help to improve your cooking and baking skills. Do you want to bake the perfect sponge or cook a family meal on a budget?
4: Savvy Shaper – Starts January 2025
will help you get to grips with choosing delicious food whilst understanding food labels and staying healthy, and learning all about what those weighing scales and Fitbit numbers mean.
5: Savvy Saver and Super Saver – Starts March 2025
is here to help you stay on top of your finances, give you tips on how you can save more and spend smarter to make your money go even further.
6: Savvy Chic – Starts May 2025
is all about home décor and DIY, and you’ll get pro tips from master home makeover professionals about how to work out how much paint, wallpaper, or carpet you need to give your place the makeover of a lifetime.
7: Savvy Seller and Super Seller – Starts June 2025
will help you with the tips and tricks and the knowhow to sell your preloved possessions online, on sites such as eBay, Facebook Marketplace and Vinted.

Our seven courses start soon with Savvy Shopper, which is a free taster session that will help you get savvy with your weekly shop and cut costs in your home.
This will be followed by our FREE Confident Consumer course, which consists of five fun-packed sessions. Week by week, we will deep-dive into how to make your money stretch further and make the best purchases. Learn how to compare deals, suss out shopping comparisons, and spot ‘retail rip-offs’ a mile off!
Plus, attending every week will get you a free £20 shopping voucher on us, which you can use when out shopping for the best deals!
We are also running several free taster sessions to see if you might like to join the courses. No booking is required; just turn up and enjoy a bit of time out, a natter, a cuppa, and a slice of cake while at the same time seeing how you can develop your confidence with smart shopping.

The course was a good stepping stone to gain a greater understanding of the environmental sector
The course provided a wealth of information for me to explore careers in the “Green” sector. Also, the option of projects to get involved in each week were a great way to connect with nature and appreciate how important it is to look after our planet.

The course was great; we worked well together and completed a great compost bin. I got to use new tools and measurements, which helped my maths. It was great. I’d like to take a course like that again.
This course was a reminder of the importance of the outdoors for my well-being and how to use items that I can find on my walk to switch off and be creative. I’ve been able to use the ideas within the workplace.
My daughter and I have had a lovely week connecting with nature, creating foraged art, painting rocks, and talking more about nature and the outdoors.

There are no charges for many of our courses.
Staffordshire county council subsidises the costs for adult and community learning, making most courses either heavily discounted or available at no cost to you
From September 2019, even more courses may be free if you have a low income and want to improve your skills. Find out more
