Enjoy new sensory play ideas, early language activities and get lots of ideas to try at home, while developing your understanding of how you can support your baby to grow and develop. Open to any adult /carer age 19yrs+ residing in Staffordshire with a baby 0-12 months.
Who is the course aimed at?
To provide parents/ carers with a basic knowledge of how their baby will grow and develop in the first year.
To raise parents and carers awareness of play, new play ideas and how to use everyday activities and items to support their babies development.
To provide opportunities for interaction between parents/ carers and their baby.
To enhance skills and confidence of parents/carers.
Entry Requirements
Open to any adult /carer age 19yrs+ residing in Staffordshire with a baby 0-12 months
Course Content
The course will cover:
- Introductions and settling in
- Physical development
- ‘Finding my hands’
- Early Communication
- Creative Play
- Safety
- ‘Teeth’
- Weaning
- Bears Week.
- Themed week.
Learning methods
Face to Face sessions in a ‘playgroup’ environment with further information/ videos emailed, some catch up sessions following planned groups available.
Learner Support
Group sessions with up to 12 learners.
Learner Assessments
We will get to know your needs and aims at the start of the course, and support you to reflect on your own progress as the course continues.
Course Materials
All course handouts will be provided. Learners will need home access to Wi-Fi and a phone/ I.T device in order to receive additional videos and audio notes, although this can be worked around if necessary.

Further community learning courses e.g. Simply Play, Pram To Primary, Multiply courses. We will advise you of other opportunities locally and online according to your needs e.g. Volunteering, Family Hub sessions, courses in childcare at local colleges.
