This course develops the skills and confidence to lead a more independent life whilst supporting learners’ health and mental wellbeing.
Who is the course aimed at?
Staffordshire residents aged 19+ recovering from poor mental health, typically anxiety and depression
Entry Requirements
We don’t have any formal entry requirements apart from the ability to fill in a basic enrolment form and be physically mobile to complete tasks in the garden.
Course Content
This course develops the skills and confidence to lead a more independent life whilst supporting learners’ health and mental wellbeing. Course delivery teaches key skills to support individuals and their families to lead a more positive and healthy life. The team will take part in an enterprise project producing craft items and kits in partnership with the National Trust Sudbury Hall.
Learning methods
Online learning via private WhatsApp Group and Facebook page and weekly phone calls to learners. Practical creative sessions will be emailed to learners each week and blended with setting and monitoring learning goals and targets. A wide variety of activities including gardening, household planning and building up family involvement in activities. Learners will be encouraged to support each other/share ideas via the Facebook/WhatsApp groups.
Learner Support
From the start we will work with you to identify what support you may need. This may be reading, writing or practical skills. We also offer IT support if you need a little assistance in getting more out of your computer, phone or tablet. The staff and volunteers are all there to support you.

Ongoing feedback from tutors and assessing task completion and development
Course Materials
All materials are provided free of charge. Learners will need access to a PC/tablet or phone and Wifi/Internet connection.
What can learner do next/progress onto?
Throughout your course you will be provided with information and advice about other learning available for you. They may progress onto a further course (with different and more advanced outcomes). There may be opportunities for future volunteer training, access to other internal and external courses, accredited and non credited. During the course we will explore self employment and support learners where needed.
