Who is the course aimed at?
The course is for Staffordshire residents and parents aged 19+ who are experiencing or recovering from mental ill health or people who have a learning difficulty or unemployed. This is an introductory course for people who want to support their own, and families’ wellbeing through connection with nature.

Course Content
To introduce you to nature and wildlife gardening, improve your wellbeing, and learn skills and techniques that you can share together as a family and with friends. Enjoy family time together in outdoor activities inspired by nature.
Learning Methods
This blended learning course is delivered face-to-face and on-line. The course will give you the opportunity to develop your social and digital skills, learn with others and take part in sessions with your tutor and with others online through our Padlet learning blog.
Learning Support
Your tutor will support your online and face-to-face learning; you will be asked to complete online forms, upload comments and photos and watch recorded material. We will provide you with natural resources and a journal so that you can take part and record your activities on the course.
Course Assessment
At the start of your course the tutor will find out a little more about you, your previous learning, the support you may need, what you would like to achieve on the course and guide you to set some personal goals. During the course you will be asked to reflect on your learning at regular points and will receive feedback from your tutor on your progress and achievement. You will receive a personal certificate of achievement at the end of the course.
Learning Materials
CARE will provide resources and equipment you will need to take part in the course. You will need to wear warm clothing and suitable footwear for the outdoors. You will be encouraged to provide a variety of recycled resources from home.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
At the end of the course you will be provided with information/advice on other learning opportunities/local activities available on-line and in your community. This could include vocational courses in Wildlife gardening, Animal Care, Horticulture, Environmental studies, Green Crafts, and wider personal development including English, numeracy and digital skills. Family learning/wellbeing courses to support you, your families are also signposted through SCC CL Course Directory.
