The aim of the course is to explore key terminology, systems and numeracy skills to support non English speaking students to have a better awareness of money management within the UK.
Who is the course aimed at?
The course is aimed at Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who are enrolled on a vocational course at NSCG and would like to improve their maths ability.

Course Content
This will be achieved by looking at loyalty schemes/best buys and comparing prices in supermarkets and enquiring about loans, mortgage rates,credit cards ISA’s/bonds and loyalty schemes in a bank scenario. Learners will develop speaking and listening skills to build confidence in asking questions for help or advice through role play scenarios. Learners will develop writing skills to build confidence in spelling and grammar in numeracy problems.
Learning Methods
You will be taught Face to Face with a friendly and supportive teacher
Learner Support
During the session you will complete an informal maths activity to help the teacher understand your numeracy needs.
Course assessment
There is no formal assessment on the course, you will complete a Learning Plan to support your progress.
Course Materials
You will require a pen and writing pad to support note taking during the course. Classes are small to ensure your teacher can provide you with the help and support you need to enable your to confidently access the class learning materials. Individual specific needs will be discuss at the start of the course.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
During the session you and your teacher will explore progression options depending on your individual needs. There will be the opportunity to progress onto further Multiply courses and Functional Skills Maths.
