Multiply – Maths in the Workplace

This is a 4-week course which aims to prepare learners for functional skills maths. Learners will build confidence in using basic numeracy skills relative to the workplace and complete warm up activities which prepares them for a functional skills qualification. Content will include use of basic percentages, fractions and money.

Who is the course aimed at?

The ALMA (Roxane Water)workforce looking to upskill for work progression.

Entry requirements

Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who do not have a Level 2 Maths qualification or equivalent. Individuals who may want to develop numeracy skills for work or progression. Individuals that want to brush up and develop their numeracy skills for everyday life.

Course content

Learners will be taken through the basic numeracy skills usually included in a functional skill course, with a particular focus on percentages, fractions and money. To end, learners will undertake a diagnostic assessment to ensure they are ready for a full functional skills qualification.

Learning methods

Learners will have a face-to-face lesson on a weekly basis, where they will undertake various Maths activities. In addition, learners will be encouraged to supplement their learning with independent study modules, provided by BKSB.

Learning Support

Additional learning support is available and can be arranged as part of the enrolment process.

Course assessments

No formal assessment of learning is included other than supportive input from your teacher and a short diagnostic test at the end of the 4 week course.

Learning materials

Learning materials will be provided by your teachers during the course.

What can learners do next after this course?

Upon completion of the course learners will have the opportunity to progress onto a 12 week functional skills qualification, but will be provided with regular advice and guidance throughout the course.

This course is fully funded so there are no course fees.
