Who is the course aimed at?
This 2 hour session is for Staffordshire residents aged 19 and over. It is for beginners or for those with some very basic knowledge of using a device, wanting to know more about Google Apps and how they can assist you in everyday life and work.

Course content
This session looks at Google Apps and (AI) Artificial Intelligence capabilities. You will explore various Google Apps such as Speech, Lens, translate, assistant, maps etc. You will learn how to use Gemini to find information, convert measurements and working out percentages. You will use Maps to plan routes and calculate distances, use Lens to find information about photos, use translate to change text into different languages and explore ways the apps can assist you and make everyday life and work easier.
Learning methods
Teaching will include tutor led sessions in small groups, 1:1 tuition, tutor demonstration, quizzes, and practical exercises. You will work at your own pace and will complete the activities using your device or the library computer. You learning progress will be recorded.
Learning Support
Your tutor will support you throughout your learning journey. Your tutor will get to know you and what you want to achieve from the course and include this in the delivery of sessions. You will also have the opportunity to have some one-to-one time with your tutor.
Course assessments
Throughout the course you will complete a number of tasks relevant to your learning. Your tutor will give you feedback throughout using an Individual Learning Plan. The Individual Learning Plan records your learning and your achievement.
Learning materials
You will need to provide your Date of Birth, Postcode and proof of ID (passport, national ID card, driver’s licence). For the session you will need a pen, a note pad and a documents folder. For homework you will need an internet connected device, either a PC, a laptop, an iPad, tablet or smart phone – you could do this at your local library.

Throughout the course your tutor will provide you with information and advice about other learning opportunities. When you have completed this course, you can progress onto another digital skills course. You may also want to gain a qualification to help you develop more skills for everyday life or for employment. You can also learn at home using Learn My Way, Skillswise or BBC Bitesize websites.
