MULTIPLY EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK . A 1 day certificated course with NUCO to cover basic lifesaving skills for work with practical everyday maths intertwined. This course is designed to provide basic awareness and will include a mix of practical tasks, scenarios and knowledge delivered using simulation tasks to embed new knowledge.
Who is the course aimed at?
Parents and carers. Adults who would like to refresh/ develop new practical everyday maths knowledge while gaining a first aid course. Adults in employment who would like to complete a certificated First aid course.
Entry Requirements
19 years + Living in Staffordshire
Course Content
Providing you practical everyday opportunities to revisit and develop your maths knowledge while developing new first aid skills including:
Legislation
Responsibilities
Action in an emergency
Primary survey
Secondary assessment
The respiratory system
Resuscitation and AED
Disorders of respiration
Disorders of circulation
Wounds and bleeding
Seizures
Minor burns and scalds
Foreign objects and unit closure
Learning Methods
Sessions are delivered to no more than 12 participants, and use a range of teaching methods. You will have opportunities to complete informal maths activities to help you to use maths in everyday situations and, take part in a mix of practical scenarios and simulation tasks to embed new knowledge. There is an end of course assessment to gain the certificate in First Aid.
Learner Support
Where possible you will have a discussion about individual needs and possible adaptations prior to the start of the course. The course content can be delivered flexibly with the aim that all learners needs can be accommodated and met.
Learner Assessments
During the course you will complete a number of tasks relevant to the course. This will include scenarios and practical tasks. Your tutor is there to support you throughout and provide feedback to enable you to successfully achieve and complete the course.
Course Materials
All equipment is provided, but lunch is not included – so please bring any food/drink as this is a busy whole day course.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
When you have completed this course, you can progress onto other maths and first aid courses. You may also want to try a course which helps you to develop more skills for everyday life, such as household budgeting, banking, shopping and debt management.
