This course will explore downloading and uploading files such as PDFs and Menus attaching to emails and message apps and sending, as well as saving to folders and drives. Explore apps and settings and searching online for Information, Price comparisons, Maps, Shopping and Public Services all with safety, privacy and protection in mind.
Who is the course aimed at?
This course is for Staffordshire residents aged 19 and over. The course is designed for absolute beginners or for those with some very basic knowledge of using spreadsheets, wanting to increase confidence using spreadsheets for work and life.

Course content
This course is aimed at those with some very basic knowledge or those who have completed the Beginners Digital Skills Course. You will type, edit and format letters enhancing styles and moving text as well as inserting tables with information in a Word Processor and using cut/copy and paste features. You will look at device settings including space and mobile data usage and how applications use allowances. You will enhance your internet searches by planning a train journey giving specific dates and times, calculating costs of travel and holidays and hotels. You will also further your shopping skills and look at submitting information using forms and downloading and attaching files to emails with the importance of identifying privacy and scams online.
Learning methods
Teaching will include tutor led sessions in small groups, 1:1 tuition, tutor demonstration, quizzes, and practical exercises. You will work at your own pace and will complete the activities using your device or the library computer. You learning progress will be recorded.
Learning Support
Your tutor will support you throughout your learning journey. Your tutor will get to know you and what you want to achieve from the course and include this in the delivery of sessions. You will also have the opportunity to have some one-to-one time with your tutor.
Course assessments
Throughout the course you will complete a number of tasks relevant to your learning. Your tutor will give you feedback throughout using an Individual Learning Plan. The Individual Learning Plan records your learning and your achievement.
Learning materials
On enrolment you will need to provide proof of ID (passport, national ID card, driver’s licence) and proof of eligibility. For the course you will need a pen, a note pad and a documents folder. For homework you will need an internet connected device, either a PC, a laptop, an iPad, tablet or smart phone – you could do this at your local library.

Throughout the course your tutor will provide you with information and advice about other learning opportunities. When you have completed this course, you can progress onto another digital skills course. You may also want to gain a qualification to help you develop more skills for everyday life or for employment. You can also learn at home using Learn My Way, Skillswise or BBC Bitesize websites.
