Multiply – Cooking on a Budget for Families

The course is a series of friendly and supportive sessions to develop yours and your children’s numeracy skills and understanding through exploring cooking on a budget.

Who is the course aimed at?

The course is aimed at Staffordshire residents aged 19+ for parents to help support their children with maths.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements.

Course content

The course will include counting portions, increasing a recipe, determining a ratio for preparing a stock, calculating a plate cost, or establishing a food budget. Culinary math begins with the basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division along with ratios, and percentages. This will help parents/carers to interact with their children by sharing new skills. On full completion of the course each learner will receive a £25 supermarket voucher.

Learning methods

You will be taught Face to Face with a friendly and supportive teacher

Learning Support

During the session you will complete an informal maths activity to help the teacher understand your numeracy needs.

Course assessments

There is no formal assessment on the course, you will complete a Learning Plan to support your progress.

Learning materials

You will require a pen and writing pad to support note taking during the course. Classes are small to ensure your teacher can provide you with the help and support you need to enable your to confidently access the class learning materials. Individual specific needs will be discuss at the start of the course.

What can learners do next after this course?

During the session you and your teacher will explore progression options depending on your individual needs. There will be the opportunity to progress onto further Multiply courses and Functional Skills Maths.

This course is fully funded so there are no course fees.
