This course offers a user-friendly approach to learning about all matters in how you can manage, save and carry out financial planning and budgeting.
Who is the course aimed at?
The course is aimed at Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who live in a Staffordshire not Stoke-on-Trent postcode. The course is for individuals experiencing or recovering from mental ill health or people who have a learning difficulty/disability or unemployed and want to support their wellbeing and independence.
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements but learners should be prepared to take part in a range of different activities, which will include using a computer. Potential learners must be willing to commit to all course sessions and be willing to work towards learning aims and complete a learner journal. Learning support is available throughout your course if required.
Course Content
Everything you need to know about managing your money, understanding how you can save and make your money stretch further in the difficult times. This course will teach you about knowledge and skills needed to build a financially stable life and make good decisions that benefit you.
Learning Methods
Face to face learning in a classroom or outdoor learning environment, using a variety of learning styles and activities. Practical learning activity in a supermarket.
Learner Support
Learning support is offered throughout the course to meet learners’ needs, whether it be a scribe, a reading pen, an Ipad or 1:1 classroom support to build confidence and guide learners in the right direction.
Course assessment
Learners will be reviewed at the start, middle and end of the course. Learners will be given the opportunity each week to reflect with their learning and identify where they may need extra support to achieve their desired learning goals and to enable their full enjoyment of their course or pursue additional areas of interest. Learners will reflect on their learning half way through the course with a mid-term review and again at the end of the course with an end of learner course evaluation.
Course Materials
All materials needed for the course will be supplied. Please bring a packed lunch unless you are attending a course where lunch is provided. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for a farm and animal environment and take into account the weather conditions on the day. Refreshments are provided for all course days and personal protective equipment where required.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
Learners may wish to take up other courses related to maths learning with other providers or they could progress onto the STEM course – Starting your own Small Business or the course called Getting Closer to the Workplace.
