Introduction to Digital skills

Gain an understanding of basic digital skills for life and work

Who is the course aimed at?

Learners aged 19+ who are looking to support development of key digital skills such as using devices, creating and editing digital media, using technology to communicate, buying and transacting online, and how to stay safe and secure when using technology.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements.

Course content

The introductory course will give you the confidence to progress onto the full Essential Digital Skills qualification at a level appropriate to your needs. While attending the introductory course you will explore essential digital skills for life, work, or further study and become familiar with a blended method of learning. Once you progress on to the qualification, you will develop skills in the following five areas: 1. Using devices and handling information 2. Creating and editing 3. Communicating 4. Transacting 5. Being safe and responsible online.

Learning methods

You will be taught Face to Face with a friendly and supportive teacher

Learning Support

Classes are small to ensure your teacher can provide you with the help and support you need to enable you to confidently access the class learning materials. Individual specific needs will be discussed at the start of the course.

Course assessments

To ensure you are on track and have understanding of the course, your teacher will use verbal questions, observations and an individual learning plan to monitor your progress against the course outcomes.

Learning materials

We will provide the workbooks you will need to bring a pen and paper to take notes and to be able to complete the workbooks during the course.

What can learners do next after this course?

After successfully completing the initial assessment and independent tasks successfully you will be able to progress onto the Entry level 3 or level 1 in Essential Digital Skills qualification

This course is fully funded so there are no course fees.
