This course will enable learning in all aspects of Intermediate Carpentry and Joinery.
Who is this course aimed at?
The course is aimed at Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who are looking to continue their journey to improving their Carpentry skills.
Entry Requirements
Learners will need to either have completed Beginners Introductory Carpentry at NSCG or be able to demonstrate the following: knowledge of the trade, current role within a trade related role, or evidence of projects done using the tools required to carry out 1stfix and 2nd fix.
Course Content
Learning all aspects Carpentry and Joinery, from hand tool work, through to 1st fix 2nd fix and structural carcass work. This course in carpentry and joinery will be delivered and assessed, using verbal and visual feedback, creating pieces of work that adhere to current regulations and standards. The course will run over one night per week, giving students the ability to learn quickly through 1 to 1 teaching and group tasks.
Learning Methods
You will be taught face to face in the workplace by a friendly and experienced assessor
Learner Support
Classes are small to ensure your teacher can provide you with the help and support you need to enable you to confidently access the class learning materials. Individual specific needs will be discussed at the start of the course.
Course Assessments
To ensure you are on track and your understanding of the course, your teacher will use verbal questions, observations and an individual learning plan to monitor your progress against the course outcomes.
Learning Materials
The course is free, however you will need to pay £30.00 for your course materials, which you will be taking away with you at the end of the course.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
During the course you and your teacher will explore progression options depending on your individual needs. The skills that you develop will also allow you to apply for an NVQ in Carpentry and Joinery which is the industry standard qualification of practice required to work in the industry. Students will be able to use all of the work that they produce during the college course as evidence to support an NVQ portfolio.
