Linking in with the Random Acts of Kindness Week, we are inviting families to get involved with fun, flexible, hands-on activities to show kindness to our planet, to our communities and to ourselves.
Who is the course aimed at?
Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who are parents or carers of children aged 2 to 10 years (although this is flexible) and interested in learning more about our planet.

Course Content
Through the course families will be encouraged to try arts, crafts, games and activities together. They will be connecting with nature and connecting with other families around Staffordshire. Parents and carers will be encouraged to open up conversations about supporting children to prioritise kindness in all its forms.
Learning methods
This flexible course begins with a in-person session, held on Saturday 15th February 2025 from 1pm – 4pm at Marquis Drive, Cannock Chase. During this session families will get involved with crafts, games and activities linked with being kind to the planet, to communities and to each other. Each family will also be given a sapling to plant during the following week as one of their acts of kindness. They will then go home with a one week kindness challenge to complete over the half term holiday.
Learner Support
Your tutor will guide this course and provide expert support wherever needed. We offer choice and flexibility to provide a quality learning experience. We can work together to ensure the course is accessible and works for you. We offer a personal approach to our courses and are on hand to help and support throughout. Through WhatsApp groups and online platforms, we encourage learners to help each other, to create a supportive online learning environment. The face-to-face session at the start of the course will offer the opportunity for questions, connection and support.
Course Assessments
There are no formal assessments as part of this course. There are two compulsory final feedback forms to complete at the end of the course. Your family will receive a certificate of achievement at the end of this course.
Learning Materials
We encourage families to come prepared for experiencing different weather at the in-person session, as most of the time will be spent outdoors. Follow-up ideas to try at home, to complete the course, will be clearly provided with any resources required listed. We encourage you to reuse, recycle, adapt or borrow, before buying anything new!
What can learners do next/progress onto?
Many learners move onto other Community Learning courses, join local groups at their libraries and Family Hubs, or even set up their own groups to develop their connection and continue learning. We provide ideas for next steps throughout the course tailored to individual interests and aspirations too.
