Learn how to grow your own favourite herbs and wildflowers in pots, containers and baskets. Learn how to use them to support your wellbeing throughout the year in fabulous sensory crafts, tisanes and oils.
Who is the course aimed at?
The course is for Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who are experiencing or recovering from mental ill health or people who have a learning difficulty or unemployed. This is an introductory course for people who want to support their wellbeing through nature.

Course Content
This wellbeing course will help you to improve your self-confidence and self-esteem by learning new gardening skills. We will introduce you to some basic growing skills that will help you to create your own sensory herb and wild flower containers. You will learn how herbs and wild flowers, and spending time enjoying nature can improve your wellbeing throughout the year.
Learning Methods
This course is a face-to-face learning course. The course will also give you the opportunity to develop your digital skills, learn with others and take part in sessions with your tutor. Learning is also supported with an on-line Padlet learning blog.
Learning Support
Your Tutor will support your learning, including help with IT skills to photograph and record your work. Transport is available from Cannock Leisure Centre and Stafford Sainsbury’s
Course Assessment
At the start of your course the tutor will find out a little more about you, your previous learning, the support you may need, what you would like to achieve on the course and guide you to set some personal goals. During the course you will be asked to reflect on your learning at regular points and will receive feedback from your tutor on your progress and achievement. You will receive a personal certificate of achievement at the end of the course.
Learning Materials
CARE will provide resources and equipment you will need to take part in the course. It would be helpful if you have a smart phone or tablet device and access to the internet for learning at home, but this is not essential. You will need to wear warm clothing and suitable footwear for the outdoors.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
At the end of the course you will be provided with information/advice about other learning opportunities and local activities available on-line and in your community. This could include vocational skills courses – Gardening and Floristry, Environmental studies, Green Crafts, and wider personal development including English, maths and digital skills. Family learning/wellbeing courses to support you, your families and life opportunities are signposted through SCC CL Course Directory.
