Join us and create some lovely festive countryside crafts. Upcycle, foraged for rustic resources and add some favourites of your own too to create festive hand crafted gifts for your home, family and friends.
Who is the course aimed at?
The course is for Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who are experiencing or recovering from mental ill health or people who have a learning difficulty or unemployed. This is an introductory course for people who want to support their wellbeing through nature.
Entry requirements
For everyone who would like to support their wellbeing and enjoy learning some new traditional arts and crafts inspired by nature and countryside during the Festive season. You will need some basic/entry level digital skills to to take part and a digital device/smart phone.
Course Content
You will be introduced to festive rustic art and craft,receive on-line tutorials and support to help you improve your wellbeing, and guide you through the skills and techniques needed to complete your projects, including forraging for organic resources from our garden and farm hedgerow. We take inspiration too from different cultures around the world.
Learning Methods
The course is delivered online through a closed Facebook group and/or an on-line CARE learning blog so you will develop your digital skills, learn with others online and take part in sessions on Zoom. Your tutor will also support your learning using Zoom, email and/or telephone conversations.
Learning Support
Your tutor will support your online learning; you will be asked to complete online forms, upload comments and photos and watch recorded material. We will provide you with some crafting resources so that you can take part in the course and this will be delivered to your home address prior to the start date of the course.
Course Assessment
At the start of your course the tutor will find out a little more about you, your previous learning, the support you may need, what you would like to achieve on the course and guide you to set some personal goals. During the course you will be asked to reflect on your learning at regular points and will receive feedback from your tutor on your progress and achievement. You will receive a personal certificate of achievement at the end of the course.
Learning Materials
To take part in this online course you will need access to the internet and a suitable device – smartphone/ipad/tablet/laptop/computer. CARE will provide some crafting resources and you may like to provide some foraged or upcycled resources of your own so that you can take part.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
At the end of the course you will be provided with information/advice on other learning opportunities/local activities available on-line and in your community. This could include vocational skills courses in Animal Care, Horticulture, Environmental studies, Green Crafts, Cookery, and wider personal development including English, numeracy and digital skills. Family learning/wellbeing courses to support you, your families are also signposted through SCC CL Course Directory.
