Join us to celebrate the best that the countryside has to offer, upcycling forraged resources to create traditional artwork and crafted items.
Who is the course aimed at?
The course is for Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who are experiencing or recovering from mental ill health or people who have a learning difficulty or unemployed. This is an introductory course for people who want to support their wellbeing through nature.

Course Content
To introduce you to Countryside art and craft, improve your wellbeing, and guide you through the skills and techniques needed to complete your projects, including foraging for organic resources from our garden and farm hedgerow.
Learning Methods
This course is a face-to-face learning course. The course will also give you the opportunity to develop your digital skills, learn with others and take part in sessions with your tutor. Learning is also supported with an on-line Padlet learning blog.
Learning Support
Your Tutor will support your learning, including help with IT skills to photograph and record your work. Transport is available from Cannock Leisure Centre and Stafford Sainsbury’s
Course Assessment
At the start of your course the tutor will find out a little more about you, your previous learning, the support you may need, what you would like to achieve on the course and guide you to set some personal goals. During the course you will be asked to reflect on your learning at regular points and will receive feedback from your tutor on your progress and achievement. You will receive a personal certificate of achievement at the end of the course.
Learning Materials
CARE will provide resources and equipment you will need to take part in the course. It would be helpful if you have a smart phone or tablet device and access to the internet for learning at home, but this is not essential. You will need to wear warm clothing and suitable footwear for the outdoors. You will be encouraged to provide a variety of recycled resources from home.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
At the end of the course you will be provided with information/advice on other learning opportunities/local activities available on-line and in your community. This could include vocational skills courses in Animal Care, Horticulture, Environmental studies, Green Crafts, Cookery, and wider personal development including English, numeracy and digital skills. Family learning/wellbeing courses to support you, your families are also signposted through SCC CL Course Directory.
