Course Content
This course provides an introduction to Forest Bathing with a specific focus on how it can be beneficial for the mental health and wellbeing of older children and teenagers. We guide the group through a variety of exercises and ideas to deepen a connection to the world around us, this ranges from outdoor breathing exercises, to barefoot walking, to foraged art. We will delve in the science behind this practice and consider how to adapt ideas to suit your family life.
Learning methods
This is an online course held over 4 weeks. We provide you with engaging learning material through themed weekly email packs and access to digital resources. You can try the exercises and explore the resources in your own time.
Learner Support
Your tutor guides this course and provides expert support wherever needed. We offer choice and flexibility to provide a quality learning experience. We work together to ensure the course is accessible and works for you. We offer a personal approach to our courses and are on hand to help and support throughout. Through WhatsApp groups and online platforms, we encourage learners to help each other, to create a supportive online learning environment.
Course Assessments
There are no formal assessments as part of this course. We ask for weekly feedback to encourage regular reflection. There are two compulsary final feedback forms to complete at the end of the course. Your family will receive a certificate of achievement at the end of this course.
Learning Materials
We provide you with engaging learning material through themed weekly email packs and access to digital resources. You can try the exercises and explore the resources in your own time to fit in with family commitments. At the very start of the course we provide a ‘resource’ list. Each week there might be a few things you need to try the ideas, however we encourge you to reuse, recycle, adapt or borrow, before buying anything new!
What can learners do next/progress onto?
Many learners move onto other Community Learning courses, more in-depth forest bathing provision or access local wellbeing services. We also provide sign-posting to groups and services for younger people to continue developing tools for positive wellbeing. We provide ideas for next steps throughout the course tailored to individual interests and aspirations too.

Online learning delivery
18/10/2024- 22/11/2024
Emails are sent out at around 10:00am each week. There will be a one week break for half term, where families can continue to enjoy the activities. Activities can be completed flexibly throughout the weeks.

This course is fully funded and therefore there are no course fees.
