There is support and advice to explore volunteering, training, job applications and setting up new ventures.

Learning Methods

This is a 42 hour blended course held over 7 weeks. We provide you with engaging learning material through themed weekly email packs and access to digital resources. You can work through these in your own time, engaging with the interactive presentations, completing practical tasks and exploring the guided research at times to suit you. We combine this with face to face events to start and end the course, where learners can interact with each other and course tutors.

Learner Support

Your tutor will guide this course and provide support wherever needed. We offer choice and flexibility to provide a quality learning experience. We can work together to ensure the course is accessible and works for you. We offer a personal approach to our online learning and are on hand to help and support throughout. Through WhatsApp groups and online platforms, we encourage learners to help each other as well, to create a supportive online learning environment.

Course Assessments

There are no formal assessments as part of this course. We ask for weekly feedback to encourage regular reflection. We encourage everyone to submit at least one piece of work throughout the 7 weeks to gain personal feedback on how to progress. There are two compulsory final feedback forms to complete at the end of the course. You will receive a certificate of attendance on completion of the course.

Learning Materials

We provide you with engaging learning material through themed weekly email packs and access to digital resources. You can try the activities and explore the resources in your own time. Each week there might be a few things you need to try the ideas, however we encourge you to reuse, recycle, adapt or borrow, before buying anything new! Access to a laptop, pc or tablet would be an advantage, but is not essential. You will need to bring your own lunch to the face to face sessions.

What can learners do next/progress onto?

Many learners move into volunteer roles, further community learning courses or accredited courses. Some have moved into related jobs or secured support to begin their own local project or venture. We provide ideas for next steps throughout the course tailored to individual interests and aspirations too.
