Course Content

This course offers a ‘taster’ into environmental careers, covering Environmental Education, Nature based Health and Wellbeing practices, Conservation and Ecology, Regeneration and Climate Change and Sustainability. Each week, you will gain a flavour of what employment in this sector might entail and have chance to explore the next steps through activities and reflection. There is support and advice to explore volunteering, training, job applications and setting up new ventures.

Learning Methods

This is a blended course held over 7 weeks. We provide you with engaging learning material through themed weekly email packs. You can work through these in your own time. We combine this with live events to start and end the course, where learners can interact with each other and course tutors. We try to make our courses as flexible and accessible as possible.

Learner Support

Two tutors will guide this course and provide support wherever needed. We offer choice and flexibility to provide a quality learning experience. We can work together to ensure the course is accessible and works for you. We offer a personal approach to our online learning and are on hand to help and support throughout. Through WhatsApp groups and online platforms, we encourage learners to help each other as well, to create a supportive online learning environment.

Course Assessments

There are no formal assessments as part of this course. We ask for weekly feedback to encourage regular reflection. We encourage everyone to submit at least one piece of work throughout the 7 weeks to gain personal feedback on how to progress. There are two compulsory final feedback forms to complete at the end of the course. You will receive a certificate of attendance on completion of the course.

Learning Materials

The course learning materials are accessed via email, or through online platforms. We offer support for accessing these materials, if anyone needs a bit of extra help. We include a resource list in the email welcome pack. Where possible we encourage the re-use of other items, or to adapt the activities to use what you already have. Where necessary, we are able to provide hard copies of the learning materials.

What can learners do next/progress onto?

Throughout your course you will be signposted to information and advice to support you to progress. This is in fact absolutely integral to each week’s course content. We look at training, volunteering and real life job opportunities linked with each of the environmental sector areas we cover. The final week of the course is specifically focussed on what comes next, where individual support is available.
