Developing IT Skills and Knowledge for beginner users; obtaining more of an awareness surrounding hardware and software.
Aim of the course
The course is aimed at those who either have very little or basic IT skills and need to improve their basic IT skills to take part in further IT Learning or employment in order to further develop. This course is tailored around those learners who are not familiar with using IT equipment, therefore, by attending this course – familiarity will be key for learners as a positive outcome.
Entry Requirements
Learners will need to live in / pay Council Tax to an eligible ACL Staffordshire Postcode & be 19+
Course Content
The following learning outcomes are proposed: Setting SMART Targets to improve their IT Skills, developing your computer literacy skills, developing competency using presentation software (PowerPoint), creating graphs and lists (Excel), developing skills in animation, using emails, using simple formulae in an Excel Spreadsheet, improve understanding of networking / social media.
How you will learn
Course sessions will be delivered face-to-face in a classroom environment – 5 hours of learning with 30 minute lunch break
Course materials
Learners will be provided with all course materials as part of the programme.
Learner Support
Learners will have dedicated tutor support throughout the programme. Learners with specific learning needs or those who require assistance and aware of what help they might need before the course; we can make preparations prior to their course start so that we can provide tailored support to their individual needs. Our dedicated enrolment and support team are also available from 8.00am till 5.00pm Monday to Friday via our enrolment office number as well as via email and enabled chat facilities.
Learner Assessment
Learners will have to take part in an initial assessment to identify their Literacy, Numeracy and IT skills prior to undertaking the course. This is designed to be a friendly, stress free process where we can ascertain what help the learners may need whilst on programme so that they get the most out of the process. Reviews are carried out on the course so that learners both mid way and at the end have an opportunity to voice any concerns that they may have or if they need any adjustments in terms of their support.
Progression
Upon Completing this course learners are eligible to attend the further IT Courses both regulated and online. As well as this, dependant on the learners level of ability and confidence, there is also the alternative to be able to attend an accredited Entry Level or Level 1 IT Course to further upskill if they wished to as well
