Join us and learn how to progress your art skills out-of-doors, using organic and traditional art materials. Share our tutorials and travel virtually with our tutors across Staffordshire to local beauty spots that will inspire your art and creativity. This course will help you to improve your self-confidence and self-esteem, inspire you to progress and learn new skills, and engage with nature outdoors to support your own wellbeing.
Who is the course aimed at?
Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who would like to support their wellbeing, are experiencing or recovering from mental ill health or people who have a learning difficulty or unemployed and who would like to re-engage with learning. This is an introductory course to learn about creating art from organic resources that you can share with your family and friends.

Course Content
You will create finished pieces of artwork inspired by nature and the outdoors, using observation skills and organic art methods and mediums to enjoy with your family and friends. You will enjoy some virtual visits made by our tutors to different venues, to provide you with inspiration for your own art and share your ideas on-line safely with other learners too. You will create an art journal to record your learning journey as part of this course.
Learning Methods
The course is delivered online through a closed Facebook group or an on-line blog so you will develop your digital skills, learn with others online and take part in sessions on Zoom. Your tutor will also support your learning using Zoom, email and/or telephone conversations.
Learning Support
Your tutor will support your online learning; you will be asked to complete online forms, upload comments and photos and watch recorded material. We will provide you with painting resources and an art journal so that you can take part in the course and this will be delivered to your home address prior to the start date of the course.
Course Assessments
At the start of your course, the tutor will find out a little more about you, your previous learning, the support you may need, what you would like to achieve on the course, and guide you to set some personal goals. During the course, you will be asked to reflect on your learning at regular points and will receive feedback from your tutor on your progress and achievement. You will receive a personal certificate of achievement at the end of the course.
Learning Materials
To take part in the online course you will need access to the internet and a suitable device – smartphone/ipad/tablet/laptop/computer. CARE will provide mixed media resources, and an art journal so that you can take part.
What can learner’s do next/progress onto?
At the end of the course you will be provided with information/advice on other learning opportunities/local activities available on-line and in your community. This could include vocational skills courses in Arts and Crafts, Environmental studies, Green Crafts, art journaling, and wider personal development including English, numeracy and digital skills. Family learning/wellbeing courses to support you, your families are also signposted through SCC CL Course Directory.
