Do you need help with budgeting? Do you need help with planning ahead? This course will help you to plan, budget and organise using English and number skills. You will learn about time, dates, scheduling, food prices and preparation, comparing prices at supermarkets, making lists and working to a budget. The course will end with a group trip you have helped to plan as a celebration.
Who is the course aimed at?
This course is for Staffordshire residents aged 19 and over. The course is designed for those with little or no knowledge of the English Language. This course is a progression from our New to ESOL courses.

Course content
This course will help you with your English language and number skills and will prepare you for more ESOL or maths courses. You will plan and organise a group day out with your class. You will learn about time, dates, scheduling, food prices and preparation, comparing prices at supermarkets, making lists and working to a budget. The course will end with the planned trip as a celebration.
Learning methods
Teaching will include tutor led sessions in small groups, 1:1 tuition, tutor demonstration, quizzes, and practical exercises. You will work at your own pace and will complete the activities using your own device or the library computer. You learning progress will be recorded.
Learning Support
Your tutor will support you throughout your learning journey. Your tutor will get to know you and what you want to achieve from the course and include this in the delivery of sessions. You will also have the opportunity to have some one-to-one time with your tutor.
Course assessments
There is no exam on the course. Throughout the course you will complete a number of activities to support your learning. Your tutor will give you feedback using an Individual Learning Plan. The Individual Learning Plan records your learning and your achievement.
Learning materials
On enrolment you will need to provide proof of ID (passport, national ID card, driver’s licence) and proof of eligibility. For the course you will need a pen, a note pad and a documents folder. Access to a tablet or PC with internet/Wifi

On this course your tutor will give you information and advice about other courses you can do. You can progress onto a ESOL Skills for Life qualification or a Multiply maths course.
