A beginners guide to connecting with nature, through photography, to support wellbeing. Using nature as our inspiration, various exercises will be introduced to build up a practice of nature photography, using this creative tool to slow down and unwind.
Who is this course aimed at?
Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who are interested in connecting with nature, through photography.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, just an interest in the topic.
Course Content
Each week we will focus on a different sense, guiding you through a mindful exercise using your phone or camera. We will introduce gentle ways of connecting with nature to support health and wellbeing. This course won’t cover the technical aspects of photography, it is more an introduction to how this accessible creative outlet can be harnessed to support a healthy life, using it to slow down, reflect, focus and connect.
Learning Methods
This is an online course held over 5 weeks. We provide you with engaging learning material through themed weekly email packs and access to digital resources. You can try the activities and explore the resources in your own time.
Learner Support
Your tutor guides this course and provide support wherever needed. We offer choice and flexibility to provide a quality learning experience. We can work together to ensure the course is accessible and works for you. We offer a personal approach to our online learning and are on hand to help and support throughout. Through WhatsApp groups and online platforms, we encourage learners to help each other as well, to create a supportive online learning environment.
Course Assessments
There are no formal assessments as part of this course. We ask for weekly feedback to encourage regular reflection. There are two compulsory final feedback forms to complete at the end of the course.

We provide you with engaging learning material through themed weekly email packs and access to digital resources. You can try the exercises and explore the resources in your own time. For this course it is essential to have a way of taking photographs. This could be via a smart phone, camera or tablet.
What can learners do next/progress onto?
Many learners move onto other Community Learning courses. We also create robust links with local photography groups to further develop skills and knowledge. We provide ideas for next steps throughout the course tailored to individual interests and aspirations too.

Email packs are sent at around 10.00am each week. These can be completed flexibly throughout the week.
