Who is the course aimed at?
To provide parents/ carers with a basic knowledge of how their baby will grow and develop in the first year.
To raise parents and carers awareness of play, new play ideas and how to use everyday activities and items to support their babies development.
To provide opportunities for interaction between parents/ carers and their baby.
To enhance skills and confidence of parents/carers.

Open to any adult /carer age 19yrs+ residing in Staffordshire with a baby 0-12 months
Course Content
Week 1 Introductions and settling in.
Week 2 Physical development
Week 3 ‘Finding my hands’
Week 4 Early Communication
Week 5 Creative Play
Week 6 Safety
Week 7 ‘Teeth’
Week 8 Weaning
Week 9 Bears Week.
Week 10 Themed week.
Learning methods
Face to face delivery with further information/videos emailed to parents/carers. Some catch up sessions following planned groups available
Learner Support
Group sessions with up to 15 learners. First and last session completed 1-1 over the phone with learner. Face to face group size dependant on lifting of restrictions to numbers at children’s centre. If face to face is paused, sessions will be held virtually using Microsoft teams
Learner Assessments
Initial assessment, mid-point review and end of course evaluation
Course Materials
All course handouts provided learner will need home access to Wi-Fi and a phone/ I.T device in order to receive additional videos and audio notes, although this can be worked around if necessary.

This course, delivered for Community Learning by Staffordshire Family Hubs, runs in all eight Staffordshire districts/boroughs and at different dates/times throughout the year.
