Our Staffordshire Community Learning team have put together a series of dedicated summer wellbeing courses, and best of all they are fully funded and free for Staffordshire county residents aged 19+
Wellbeing Wildlife Gardening course
Take steps to take care of your wellbeing by keeping active and creating a wildlife friendly garden.
This online course aims to help you support your own mental wellbeing.
You will learn strategies of how to put the 5 ways to wellbeing into practice by learning new gardening skills. You will be able to share ideas and collaborate on-line with others on the course. You will learn how you can use these skills to give to others too.

Healthy Eating and Lifestyle course
This introductory course will help you support your wellbeing by making healthier eating choices and wasting less.
This course aims to help you support your own mental wellbeing. You will keep active in your own home and learn strategies of how to put the 5 ways to wellbeing into practice by identifying alternative ways to use leftover ingredients.
You will learn new cookery skills, the importance to our wellbeing of choosing healthy eating options, share ideas and collaborate online with others on the course. You will learn how you can use these skills to give to others too.
Course Content
There are a variety of weekly topics within this course:
- identifying new ways to use leftover ingredients
- following a basic recipe
- using basic cookery skills
- correctly select and use kitchen equipment/utensils safely
- food hygiene practice
- weekly planning and budgeting
The above topics also give you opportunities to brush up on your maths, English, communication and IT skills with plenty of support from your tutor.

Art for Wellbeing – Start Sketching and Drawing
This is an introductory course for Staffordshire residents aged 19+ who want to support their wellbeing through art and introduce you to art as therapy to improve your wellbeing, and guide you through skills and techniques for basic sketching and drawing.
This course will introduce you to a new art skill, something that you can enjoy when relaxing out of doors, at home, with family and something you can also share with your family and friends.
